Sagem F@st 120 ADSL modem supplied by Optus has been customised by Sagem for optimal performance on the Optus DSL Broadband service.

While these instructions are provided for your convenience, the simplest and recommended method to install and configure your modem for the Optus DSL Broadband service is to follow the step by step instructions on the quick install guide provided with your modem.

Installing Filters

A filter must be installed on each of the telephony devices that share the same telephone line as your Optus DSL Broadband service. These include:

  • telephones
  • fax machines
  • dial-up modems
  • answering machines
  • some digital pay TV equipment
  • any other device connected to your DSL enabled telephone line

  1. To install the filter connect the side labelled Line to the telephone wall socket.
  2. If you have a different wall socket (600 series as pictured) you need to use an adaptor (605 to RJ11). These can be purchased from any electronics stores.
  3. Connect the grey telephone cable between the filter port labelled ADSL and the grey port on the modem labelled Line.
  4. Connect your telephone to the port on the filter labelled Phone.
  5. Place a filter on all telephones or similar devices at your premises by unplugging the telephone cord and placing a filter between the phone and the wall socket as shown.
  6. If you have a home monitoring service (Back to Base security or medical alarm) that uses the same phone line as your DSL service, it is your responsibility to arrange for a central filter to be installed in your premises at your own expense. If you do not do this, you will experience problems with your DSL connection and your monitoring service. If you require further information about central filters, please contact the provider that monitors your alarm. Alternatively you can arrange for one to be installed by Service Stream Solutions on 1300 300 450.
