Get Connected

Getting connected provides assistance in making sure you can get your Internet connection up and running as quickly as possible.

National Access Number

Optus Dial-up Internet now has one access number for use everywhere in Australia. This means you won't have to change access numbers if you are moving around Australia.

0198 331 111

The call cost for this access number for Optus telephony customers will be a local call cost.

If you are with a telephone provider other than Optus for local calls, we recommend that you contact that telephone provider to check the call cost for dialling into the new access number. It is the account holder's responsibility to check the call charges prior to using the service.

NOTE: When you're using a telephone service that's not billed directly to you, for example when you're using a hotel phone line to call into the Optus Dial-up Internet Local Access Number 0198 331 111, you will need to check the call costs for 0198 calls with that provider as they may not be charged at local call rates.

Windows Setup

To connect to Optus Dial-up Internet, you'll need a 28.8kbps (or faster) modem, a standard telephone line and a computer with a CD-ROM drive. If you use a computer running Windows, the following section provides the information necessary to setup your computer to use the most common elements of the Internet.

PC users: Your computer will need to comply with the following specifications to be eligible for Optus Dial-up Internet customer support. PC Minimum Specification: Minimum Pentium (or equivalent) processor, 16MB RAM, 65MB free hard disk space and operating systems Win98/2000/Me/XP.

Please note: Operating systems must be English language versions.

Macintosh Setup

To connect to Optus Dial-up Internet, you'll need a 28.8kbps (or faster) modem, a standard telephone line and a computer with a CD-ROM drive. If you use an Apple Macintosh computer, the following section provides the information necessary to setup your computer to use the most common elements of the Internet.

Mac users: Your computer will need to comply with the following specifications to be eligible for Optus Dial-up Internet Customer support. Minimum Specification: PowerPC processor, 16MB RAM, 20MB free hard disk space and Mac OS 9.0 to 10.3

Please note: Operating systems must be English language versions.
