Modem configuration: Windows 2000/XP


Please note that from the 1st of Feburary 2012, Optus no longer provides telephone support for customers with Windows 2000 operating systems

Step 1 of 7

  • With your PC turned on, connect the USB cable from the Cable Modem, to an available USB port on your computer.
  • The "Found New Hardware" wizard will be displayed.
  • Click the Next button.

Step 2 of 7

  • The "Search for a suitable driver for my device" radio button should be ticked.
  • Click the Next button.

Step 3 of 7

  • The "Specify a location" tick box should be ticked.
  • Click the Next button.

Step 4 of 7

  • Click the "Browse" button to specify the location of the USB driver for your Cable Modem. The necessary drivers are on the Optus Cable Internet installation CD, and are also available from the Cable Modem manufacturer's websites.
  • Once you have located the driver, Click the Open button.

Step 5 of 7

  • Click the OK button to continue.

Step 6 of 7

  • Once Windows has located the driver, Click the Next button.

Step 7 of 7

  • Windows has now successfully installing the device.
  • Click Finish to end the process
