Modem configuration: Windows 98/ME

  • Step 1 of 6
  • With your PC turned on, connect the USB cable from the Cable Modem, to an available USB port on your computer.
  • The "Add New Hardware" window will be displayed, and a "USB Composite Device" will be shown as having been detected.
  • Click Next
  • Step 2 of 6
  • Tick the "Search for the best driver for your device" radio button.
  • Click Next
  • Step 3 of 6
  • Specify the location of the driver file, whether it be on your Optus Broadband Internet CD, or on your computer.
  • Click Browse to locate the driver files
  • Click Next to continue
  • Step 4 of 6
  • Windows may ask for your Windows 98 CD.
  • Click OK
  • Step 5 of 6
  • Windows may alert you that you are attempting to copy a file older than the one already installed, and will ask you if you want to keep the existing file
  • Always click Yes
  • Step 6 of 6
  • After Windows has succesfully installed the driver for your Cable Modem, it will ask you to Restart your computer.
  • Click OK
  • After the restart you should now be able to access the Internet using your Cable Modem.
